7th Aug 2015
Last month saw Pearl Linguistics attending MineCon 2015 event in London, hosted by Mojang and Microsoft. The convention dedicated to all things Minecraft earned a Guinness World Record for being the largest convention in history for a single video game (!).
With 10,000 ticket sales Minecon's audience included participants from 73 countries, with some fans even traveling to London from as far as New Zealand and Korea! Highlights included panels and live sessions featuring the creators of Minecraft-focused YouTube channels as well as sessions giving a glimpse of what’s next for Minecraft.
Some of the top bloggers and YouTube vloggers from China, Japan and Korea (including bloggers from the biggest Minecraft forum in mainland China) also visited MineCon 2015. Guess what?! Pearl Linguistics had the pleasure of providing interpreters for them! Each day our interpreters were available to help the YouTubers with interpretations during interactions in the exhibit hall or during panels and talks. Our amazing interpreters handled the pressure of live blogging and vlogging very well and Minecraft has once again made history!
Right after the event a warm note from our Client arrived in our office:
Thank you for organising such a great team for us over the weekend. Everything from our side flowed really nicely and I think the interpreters were a good fit with the YouTubers.
