The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) is one of the largest and most widely respected professional bodies for those who are working in the securities and investment industry in the UK and in a growing number of financial centres globally. Evolved from the London Stock Exchange (LSE), they now have more than 40,000 members in 110 countries. In the past year, they set almost 37,000 examinations in 74 countries, covering a range of vocational qualifications.
CISI required their Workbook and Question Bank, which consisted of over 127,247 words to be translated, proof read, type set and virtually tested from English into Arabic for the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.), all in an effort to make the workbook as comprehensive as possible for the end user in the U.A.E. to fully grasp the knowledge of the content. With a strict deadline in place before the workbook was published; it was absolutely essential to follow the instructions provided by the client to the letter, as well as communicating with the client and in country staff throughout the process.
In order to meet the required deadline set, we selected only the most experienced financial linguists from our existing team for CISI based around the world so that they could translate outside of UK office hours where required. All translators who participated in this project had at least 5-8 years of experience in translating finance related documents. As confidentiality was, as always, crucial, we only transferred the workbook materials using our secure FTP platform having already systematically checked that all linguists had passed stringent security checks to verify their identity. The translations were proof-read, type set, tested and submitted on time.
CISI has a reliable solution in place for meeting the demanding translation requirements of critical financial workbooks and question banks in different countries, using a team of professional linguists based around the world. The processes we have implemented for them can now be adapted for any project and any language which they wish to be published in. Since the publication of this workbook, we have also helped CISI publish large volumes of their educational material in Greek, Spanish and now looking to do the same with Asian languages for students based in the Far East.
