Charles Russell Speechlys LLP
required a strictly confidential
and very urgent translation of documents in support of the litigation case of one of their high net-worth private clients. Subsequently, they also had a last minute requirement
for an interpreter to attend the hearing and interpret the witness’s responses.
Charles Russell Speechlys
is a law firm
headquartered in London
with offices in the UK, Europe and the Middle East. Formed in 2014 by the merger of Charles Russell
and Speechly Bircham
, they are one of the leading English law firms combining specialist business law and private wealth advice internationally.
Over 300 pages of various Chinese documents and statements had to be translated. Charles Russell Speechlys
contacted Pearl on a Friday morning and required the project to be delivered the following Friday - such a project would normally take a month to complete. Apart from being timely, the translation had to be extremely accurate, in order to have the desired impact on the case proceedings.
As a last minute challenge, they required a Chinese interpreter for a witness whose spoken English was not good enough to be considered valid by the Court. Charles Russell Speechlys called Pearl on Sunday night, for the interpreter to attend a 10am Monday morning Court hearing.
Pearl Linguistics assessed the documentation in line with the Non-Disclosure Agreement
between Pearl and Charles Russell Speechlys
. In order to meet the extremely short turnaround, Pearl’s Project Management Team built a team of 9 experienced Chinese translators, whose experience was not only from the Legal sector, but specifically related to the nature of the case.
Pearl’s offices are open 24/7/365 and the Interpreting Booking Coordinators were able to respond to the clients’s last minute Chinese interpreter requirement on a Sunday night, with only a few hours before the Court hearing.
Our client’s translated documents were submitted on time, accepted by the Court as valid and played a significant role in the subsequent proceedings. This allowed Charles Russell Speechlys’ lawyers to focus on more relevant matters. This was also backed up by the Chinese witness’s statement, interpreted by Pearl’s translator in Court.
The way Charles Russell Speechlys
were able to quickly adapt and present the new evidence to the case left their client impressed and confident, his case having been dealt with immediately, as a priority and effectively.
“With Pearl Linguistics as our partner, I am confident that we can make the most of any foreign material that comes our way. This not only provides a peace of mind, but also a considerable advantage over our competitors and tight Court deadlines - we are always one step ahead.”
